Tips And Tricks For Selecting The Right Type Of Roofing Material

Having a roof replacement or installing a new roof on a new construction home often requires making a choice with regard to the best kind of roofing material. With that said, there are a few primary types of roofing material worth considering when having to make this type of decision. There are many natural products for roofing as well as many synthetic products. Here are a few examples of the choices available to consumers.

Affordable Solution

Shingles are a common type of roofing material that has been used for many decades. Typically made of various types of material, shingles are comprised of overlapping sections. Shingles can also be wooden composition including cedar and various types of hardwood. Shingles are an affordable solution for those looking for an attractive roof that is not overly expensive. Slate is another type of roofing material that is known to be quite expensive but is very durable and incredibly reliable. Thin sheets of Slate are actually lighter then comparable concrete tile material. Slate looks attractive and can add appeal to any home.

Harshest Weather Conditions

Another option for those looking for a professional roofing finish is stone tiles. Stone is considerably heavier than other types of roofing material and requires a very firm and solid structural foundation in order to support the excessive weight. The upside of choosing stone tile is that it is resilient, durable and long lasting. This type of roofing material can resist even the harshest weather conditions and the heaviest storms. Another common type of roofing material is copper. While lighter than wood and other materials such as Slate, tile and shingles, copper is expensive but has an extremely long life span.

Prevent Damage

One other advantage of choosing copper is that it is easy to maintain and looks incredibly attractive. Also of note with regard to copper roofing material is that it changes in appearance as it ages. Copper is known to take on a green tint after it has been exposed to the elements for a period of time. Whatever type of roofing is chosen, it is important to note that there is typically some level of upkeep required to prevent damage and to maintain a roof in a strong and functional way. Avoiding leaks and other similar types of problems simply means maintaining a roof at regular intervals. Contact Gryphon Roofing & Remodeling for Phoenix roofing services that get results.
