Safety is everyone’s job at Gryphon Companies, Inc. Our safety program is more than the OSHA manual. Safety is part of our culture that is practiced every day and on every job. We have also developed processes that promote sage and sound work practices to prevent injuries and promote excellent work. Our efforts help us maintain a safe environment for our crews, as well as complete safety for our customers.
Each employee is required to follow a detailed safety program on the job and in preparation for each job. The following list gives examples of the topics covered by our safety program:

our lifelong story
1987: Jan’s Roofing // When Russel was 13, he started working with his Uncle, Jan Overson, at Jan’s Roofing on weekends and summers. He worked over the next several years with his brother, Clinton Hyman, and other uncle, Guy Overson, working as a shingler’s assistant, tear-off foreman, shingler, and then tile repairman.
1994: JRC Roofing // Jan moved to Colorado leaving Russel and Clinton to run the new partnership, JRC Roofing, in Arizona while he opened the same company in Colorado Springs. Jan eventually returned to Arizona and the three continued to work together along with several other family members running the company.
1998: Gryphon Roofing // Russel became President and majority owner of the company as the family transformed their hard work into a corporation. Gryphon Companies, Inc. was born; the company was named Gryphon after the half lion, half eagle mythical creature who protects treasure.
2017: 30 Years in Business // 2017 marks 30 years in business for Russel. We have had some name changes over the years, however we are still offering the same professionalism today as in 1987.
2019 - 2021: President of ARCA // Russ has served on the board of the Arizona Roofing Contractor's Association for years, in late 2018 he was voted in to be ARCA's newest President.

Owner / Operator since 1994. Qualifying Member of Roofing License and also Qualifying Member of General Contractor’s License.
Experience with installation / quality control / project management of shingles, shakes, cement tile, clay tile, TPO, Modified, Built-Up roofing, Metal, and other various forms of roofing. Familiar with virtually all aspects of general contracting. Sales, Customer Relations, all aspects of the roofing & construction business.
BS Degree in Finance from ASU. OSHA Certified, GAF Certified, Owens Corning Certified.
President of Arizona Roofing Contractor's Association from 2019-2021.
Accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, human resources, taxes, financial statements, accounting oversight, legal dept., scheduling, and bookkeeping.
Our mainstay in communicating with our customers regarding accounts receivable.
Handles appointment scheduling and commercial roofing office administration.
Specializing in IT services, management of equipment, inventory, and vehicles. Our jack-of-all-trades and master of none.
Luis will get your project done with no non-sense, on budget, and on time.
Working in roof installation, estimation, and customer service, Brooks' 20+ years of experience has led him to be our award winning "Residential Roofing Salesman of the Year" 8 of the last 13 years.
With 7+ years in roofing industry, and many more in construction. Ryan owns and maintains his own general contracting license as well, with knowledge covering more than just roofing.
David has worked every job in the roofing industry from tear-off, to shingle manufacturing, and even commercial roofing sales.
Our face in the field during residential roofing projects. Damian ensures the crews have what they need to get the job done and brings a smile on his face when its 110° out.
With 15+ years of roofing experience. Takes charge of all aspects of the commercial team from job proposals, crew hiring, job coordination, safety, and customer service. Robert is professional, knowledgeable, and takes pride in his work.
As a recent transplant to Arizona, Beau has hit his stride in commercial roof estimation and project management.
Michael is our field man keeping crews working, happy, and hydrated.
PRESIDENT of CONSTRUCTION
President of Construction since 2014.
Originally from a new construction background with dozens of residential ground up projects completed. Thousands of projects completed in value-add rehabs on residential investment properties. Hospitality and multifamily experience in both project management and budgeting.
Our resident Restoration industry expert. Has 15+ years of experience in rebuilding properties destroyed by fires, smoke, floods, and storms.
Erica and Steven work closely together to manage all of our restoration projects and carry them to the end.
Laura has worked at Gryphon for 4+ years and works directly with our sub-contractors.
Lexus has gained many titles in a short time while working at Gryphon. She assists in book keeping, project management, and office assistance.
